Wider 42: Innovative Open Day Cruiser
Blog — By Lucid Yacht on June 24, 2011 at 12:50 pmThe Wider 42 is one of the most innovative designs to come onto the market, they recently won Best Nautical Project of the Year! She widens out in just 12 seconds thanks to mobile extensions of either side of the hull.

A concentration of adrenaline and fun. Packed with intuitive features which make her truly one of a kind

High performance and lightweight, she could reach upward of 50 knots (special engine package required). The two engines are not installed in the classically symmetrical way, but offset in a racing style, thus guaranteeing better positioning in the centreline with a consequent increase in stability and ease of inspection.
Using vacuum infusion molding (Scrimp System) techniques for carbon and vinylester resins, also used in both Formula 1 and the aerospace industry makes Wider 42 both aerodynamic and efficiency.

When opened out, the central cockpit of Wider 42’ features a flat, usable surface area of over 18 m2 – the equivalent of the cockpit of a megayacht – and a floatation width of 6.6 m.

This 42 foot open day-cruiser, was developed by Tilli Antonelli’s and Fulvio De Simoni … Set to change what you thought was possible in this yacht category. Revolutionized space, outstanding stability, killer performance, respect for the environment and comfort on board.

Below deck, a food preparation area, a head with carbon toilet, washbasin and separate shower, and a C-shape sitting area that could be converted into a bed

The multifunctional steering wheel with in-built multiview display, similar to those used in Formula 1. The helm station equipment comprises a GPSMap® 7012 Garmin chart plotter, equipped with a 12.1 inch touchscreen display, and new G-Motion™ technology which allows for extraordinary fluidity when passing from
one screen to another.
